Oregon sends additional firefighters to California wildfires

Six more teams of firefighters will be dispatched by the Oregon State Fire Marshal to join the 300 Oregon firefighters that were deployed to California on Wednesday to assist in battling the destructive wildfires in the Los Angeles area, which may be the most expensive in American history.

According to the Oregon State Fire Marshal, the teams, which will arrive on Sunday morning, consist of 30 water trucks and 70 firemen from fire departments throughout the state.

According to the Associated Press, since Tuesday, the fires in the Los Angeles area have destroyed over 12,000 buildings and claimed the lives of at least 11 people.

In response to misleading claims made on social media this week, KATU Channel 2 said on Saturday that California emissions testing is not halting Oregon firetrucks.

A Cal Fire representative informed the TV station that no cars from Oregon had been turned around. There was no emissions testing done.
