Oregon receiver Traeshon Holden, Ohio State cornerback Davison Igbinosun address spitting incident from before Rose Bowl rematch

ANGELEST LOSFor the first time since the Oregon receiver spat on the Ohio State cornerback, Raeshon Holden and Davison Igbinosun will square off.

Holden issued a public apology for the incident, which led to the ejection of Oregon’s third-ranked receiver with 11:31 left in the second quarter of the game on October 12.

Two days prior to the Rose Bowl matchup between the No. 1 Ducks and the No. 8 Buckeyes, Holden and Igbinosun both discussed the incident for the first time.

“I’m not mature enough,” Holden said. He did nothing about it. Not a word about him. I blamed myself for that. I’m prepared for the game here. Since that incident, I’ve grown up and don’t give a damn about it anymore.

The most-penalized defensive player in college football, Igbinosun, claimed he wasn’t angry at the time.

Igbinosun remarked, “I guess he was upset about me pushing him out of bounds towards the sideline.” Naturally, you are aware that it is disrespectful for someone to spit on you, but I felt like he did it to me at the season’s most important game, and I wasn’t going to retaliate, so I was unable to continue playing. That wasn’t going to be clever, in my opinion.

The following week, Holden traveled but did not play at Purdue. He has 38 receptions for 602 yards and three touchdowns. In the two months since the incident, he claimed to have attended therapy.

Speaking with others and improving myself, Holden stated. I actually sat and spoke to myself first because I had to. Continue to talk to God on a daily basis. improving and becoming a better man.

In the days after the game earlier this season, he witnessed the range of responses, including from former NFL MVP Cam Newton, who was one of numerous previous professionals who predicted that such a disrespectful act would result in reprisals.

Holden told them that everyone makes errors. In college, he made a mistake. It is what it is. Helping my team win is what I’m here to do.

Neither Holden nor Igbinosun anticipates personal hostility if they face off again on Wednesday night.

Igbinosun declared, “I’m playing his entire team, not just him.” I’m attempting to strap every receiver.
