Oregon man disappears taking photos of King Tides

The U.S. Coast Guard has already halted its search for a man from North Bend who went to the Oregon coast on Sunday to snap pictures of the King tide and disappeared.

According to a statement released this week by the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, North Bend police have been looking for Joseph Neill since at least Monday, when Neill’s vehicle was discovered across the bay from North Bend, close to Joseph Point.

After North Bend police requested assistance from the sheriff’s office, a sheriff’s K9 team quickly concluded that Neill had left the area where his car had been located. Additionally, the North Bend Police Department requested that the North Bend Fire Department and the Coast Guard search for him in the water. They halted the search after failing to locate him.

According to the JoeStrong Facebook page, which is devoted to Neill’s search, his family is still looking for him. Community members are assisting in the hunt for Neill by reporting the precise location of their searches on a specially made web map.

Knowing that he would do the same for you or any of us, we will keep looking for public lands because we cannot let this go unchecked. Neill’s daughter Christine Horner wrote on December 16 at 2:00 p.m.

The sheriff’s office stated that the area where he vanished includes private property that carries threats to life and limb, which might make the search more difficult. They advised people to obtain permission from the landowner before searching for Neill on private property.
