In order to address the enormous backlog of complaints from employees who claim they have been wrongfully denied compensation or that their civil rights have been infringed, the Oregon Labor Bureau has requested that lawmakers and Governor Tina Kotek increase its budget by almost $22 million.
For the two-year term starting in July of next year, the agency is asking for $81.2 million, a significant 36% increase from its present budget.As Kotek prepares a suggested budget for the Legislature to examine and approve the next year, she will take into account suggestions from state agencies.
