The Oregonian/OregonLive examined the girls basketball teams in the Central Valley Conference in great detail last week.
It’s time to examine each of the district’s top players in greater detail this winter.
Patricia Mike, McNary’s senior
Class 5A’s McKay, who made the all-conference second team, is Mike’s introduction to McNary. She is an excellent floor general and a cunning scorer, according to newly hired coach Brittany Dunn, who also praised her for quickly establishing herself on the Celtics squad.
Junior Aubrey Adams, McNary
Adams, who received honorable mention the previous season, gives the Celtics accurate shooting. According to Dunn, the guard’s basketball IQ is particularly noteworthy, which has helped her grow into a valuable defensive player for our squad.
Senior Sofie Schurr, McNary
As a junior, Schurr joined Adams on the honorable mention list. She is a versatile player who can play both guard and forward. Dunn added that she has the defensive prowess to protect both posts and guards in addition to her ability to rebound and shoot.
Senior Hailey Carbajal of McNary
Carbajal is aware of her crucial role for the Celtics. The team’s defensive specialist is the senior guard. Dunn claimed that she is a left-handed danger, a leader, and a defender of the opposition’s top player.
Junior Carly Skogstad of Sprague
As a junior, the point guard won a berth on the all-conference first team, demonstrating Skogstad’s dominance in the Central Valley. But according to coach Andy Sydow, she is not just among the greatest players in the conference but also among the best guards in the state.
Senior Jocelyn Neufer of Sprague
One of the two exceptional post players for the Olympians is Neufer. Because of her natural strength, Sydow observes the senior giving other players fits inside.
Junior Addison Hannant, Sprague
Together, Hannant and Neufer create a powerful inside team for the Olympians. Hannant is renowned for her ability to grab rebounds and score from close range.

Senior Addison Almero of Sprague
Skogstad and Almero go well together. According to Sydow, she is a fantastic shooter from beyond the arc, can play both guard and wing, and provides hard-nosed defense.
Junior Brook Tate from South Salem
As a sophomore, Tate was selected to the second team of the all-conference. During the previous season, the forward averaged 10.6 points and seven rebounds per game. According to coach Adrian Lewis, she can hit three-pointers, attack from the outside, and post up.
Emma Burlison, South Salem, junior
As a sophomore, Burlison averaged 8.3 points and 5/7 rebounds per game, earning him a spot on the all-conference second team. Lewis remarked of the wing, “Emma works hard and will never quit.” Her motor is excellent.
Senior Brezlyn Schwalm of South Salem
As a junior, Schwalm contributed 7.1 points per game, earning him honorable mention. Her role is obvious. The guard is a lights-out shooter, according to Lewis, who made more than half of her three-pointers in the previous season.
Emma Zuniga from West Salem, junior
Zuniga is the best player in the Central Valley and was named conference player of the year in his second year. She contributes to the Titans’ success both inside and out as a wing/forward and was named to the second team all-state. Coach Katie Singleton remarked, “Emma is a great vocal leader for us and puts everything on the floor.”
Junior Chica Casas of West Salem
As a sophomore, Chica Casas, a point scorer for the Titans, was selected to the all-conference first team. “She sees the floor very well, controls the game, and protects the ball,” Singleton said. She has grown into a fantastic leader and is among our top defenders.
West Salem native Sami Griffin, junior
Griffin is just one more piece of the Titans junior class’s well-oiled machine. She was an all-conference honorable mention the previous season and is a high finisher and rebounder for the team. According to Singleton, she puts in a lot of effort on both sides of the ball.
