Los Angeles Jamaree Caldwell, a nose tackle for Oregon, is amenable to a 2025 comeback.
Caldwell, who attended Independence Community College in 2021, was one of three Ducks affected by the NCAA’s decision to extend the eligibility period for former junior college athletes by one year. He is open to returning for a sixth season after recording a career-high 28 tackles (3.5 for loss), three pass breakups, and a forced fumble this season.
Caldwell stated, “It’s a blessing, coming from all JUCO players in the country.” I’m not really sure where I want to start as of now. After the season, I wanted to give that some thought. Yes, I do think about returning.
Even though Caldwell accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl, he still hasn’t decided to go on after the season.
“It would be a great opportunity to demonstrate a lot of my skills and abilities on the field,” Caldwell said. My mentality was to concentrate on winning right away and consider that later. Going to the NFL is always a dream for everyone who plays this game. Draft ratings and where you’re headed are major topics. I will definitely think about returning if things don’t work out for me and I know I could perform better the next year.
Bear Alexander, a former USC defensive tackle, joined the Ducks this month. The Ducks will lose defensive tackle Keyon Ware-Hudson at the end of the season. Oregon is expected to have ten scholarship interior defensive linemen in 2025 if Caldwell makes a comeback. Defensive tackle Derrick Harmon has not yet disclosed his plans for the upcoming campaign.
Tony Tuioti, the defensive line coach, stated, “I believe we’ll deal with that when it comes up.” I’ve been concentrating so hard on the current assignment and, most importantly, this game. The greatest Christmas present I could hope for would be another year of Jamaree Caldwell. At the moment, the focus is on the future and how to construct a roster with great depth that will always be present, which is the most crucial factor. Having depth is one thing, but having great depth is much more important because you need to have at least four players in the interior who can roll and play without dropping off.
Three Oregon football players, including Caldwell, were affected when the NCAA granted a waiver that would have allowed players in a similar circumstance to Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia to play in 2025–2026 if their eligibility had been slated to expire after the current academic year. In the Pavia case, the NCAA is contesting the injunction.
George Silva, an offensive lineman, and Kobe Savage, a safety, are also eligible for another year. Silva stated that he intends to go back.
