The two teams who qualified for the national title were ahead of Oregon at the end of the 2024–25 season.
The Ducks (13-1) finished the season No. 3 with 1,255 points in the AP poll after losing to eventual national champion Ohio State 41-21 in the Rose Bowl.
With 1,550 points and all 62 first-place votes in the AP poll and 1,350 points and all 54 first-place votes in the coaches poll, the team was unanimously ranked No. 1 going into the CFP.
At Autzen Stadium, Oregon will play Montana State in the 2025 season opener on August 30.
