Officers seize guns, make arrest after shots fired in Portland’s Old Town, police say

Following many gunshots reported in the Old Town district close to downtown Portland on Wednesday night, police took several firearms and arrested a guy.

Around 10:14 p.m., officers found a crashed automobile with guns inside when they arrived at the scene near Northwest 5th Avenue and Everett Street, according to a statement from the Portland Police Bureau.

According to authorities, it looks like the alleged gunfire did not damage anyone.

Officers searched the area after the occupants of the crashed automobile left the scene. Christopher Jude Weber, 37, who fit the description of one of the individuals in the car, was taken into custody, according to the police.

According to court filings, Weber is charged with unauthorized use of a weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, and methamphetamine possession. In 2016, he was found guilty of methamphetamine possession; the year prior, he had been found guilty of methamphetamine possession, theft, and possession of a firearm in a park.
