In order to resolve a whistleblower lawsuit brought by a teacher who claimed the system retaliated against her for supporting LGBTQ+ children, the Newberg School system has agreed to pay $90,000.
The district has consented to issue a public statement reaffirming its dedication to fostering an inclusive workplace and school climate, but it does not acknowledge liability under the settlement. According to the settlement, it will also print complaint forms at school counselors’ offices and display them on its website before the start of the 2025–2026 academic year.
