N. Portland residential fire blasts 3 walls off house

Around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Portland firefighters reported that a fire destroyed three walls of a house in St. Johns.

In the 9500 block of North Polk Avenue, firefighters discovered a large garage fire that had extended into the attic. In a social media post, Portland Fire & Rescue workers stated that they could not see any people inside the structure or cars in the driveway, but they did not report any injuries.

The social media post claims that several walls were torn off the foundation by what is thought to have been an explosion, making it impossible for rescuers to enter the house. The reason of the explosion has not been disclosed by the fire department.

At 12:30 p.m., workers were still attempting to put out the fire and had secured a damaged power line.
