Multnomah County security vehicles mistaken for cars belonging to immigration officials

Local authorities corrected the record Wednesday after people of the Portland region mistakenly believed that Multnomah County security trucks belonged to federal immigration agents. According to officials, Inter-Con Security, the security firm, is one of the county’s third-party contractors.

According to Julie Sullivan-Springhetti, our expert security services are here to safeguard our buildings and clinics. These people are employed by the local government rather than the federal government.

According to Sullivan-Springhetti, county officials first noticed a Facebook post that featured a video of an Inter-Con vehicle driving down a freeway with the statement, “ICE is already out and about.” On the hood of the cars is a sizable IC logo.

Following President Donald Trump’s promise to begin the biggest deportation operation in American history, there has been a surge of social media posts motivated by fear.

According to Sullivan-Springhetti, the initials regrettably appear to be (U.S.) Immigration and Customs Enforcement from a distance.

Local officials told The Oregonian/OregonLive that other local social media rumors this week that federal immigration agents had invaded a public university, raided local businesses, and interrogated schoolchildren were also untrue.
