Several KFC locations across Illinois were abruptly closed this week by EYM Chicken Operations and its parent company, Yum. The closures have led to widespread layoffs, leaving many employees suddenly without jobs.
Among those affected was a former maintenance worker who received news of his termination while vacationing in Tennessee.
The worker described feeling blindsided by the decision, noting that his position was eliminated without prior warning.

In Rockford alone, three KFC outlets have closed, including those on Kilburn Avenue, 11th Street, and West Lane Road in Machesney Park. Despite these closures, some locations in Galesburg and Macomb remain operational.
Yum issued a statement acknowledging the closures, expressing appreciation for the loyalty of their customers.
