One train car carrying agricultural supplies fell into the Marys River on Saturday after a train bridge over the river failed in Corvallis. There were no reported injuries.
Around 12:08 p.m., the Portland & Western train car derailed due to a train trestle’s structural breakdown, according to a statement from the Corvallis Police Department.
Following the incident, police reported that two further train cars were unstable. One of the vehicles is partially submerged in local photos.
The ecological recovery firm Northwest firemen is attempting to contain any materials that may have escaped into the river, while Corvallis Fire Department officers and firemen are responding to the location, according to police.
