Man who died in crash near Tigard Dec. 30 identified

The guy who died in an automobile accident on Highway 99W on December 30 was recognized by Tigard police on Wednesday.

At approximately 12:35 a.m., Hayden Hackney, 21, was operating a sedan on Highway 99W at Southwest Canterbury Lane when he struck Jason Burgess, 40, in a Ford F150.

At the scene, Hackney was declared deceased. According to Tigard police, Burgess was taken into custody on suspicion of second-degree manslaughter, DUI, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving.

According to court documents, Burgess entered a not guilty plea to the DUI, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving counts after Washington County prosecutors dropped the manslaughter accusation.
