According to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office, the guy who was shot several times in the head by a Vancouver police officer on December 4 died.
The man’s death was declared a homicide by the medical examiner.
Adam Grant Gunderson, 45, of Vancouver, was shot by Officer Kyle Beguelin Flores at around 10:48 p.m. outside a Safeway store located at 13719 SE Mill Plain Blvd., according to the Washington State Office of Independent Investigations, which is conducting the investigation.
Gunderson was shot outside a grocery loading dock, according to the medical examiner’s office.
The reason behind Beguelin Flores’ and at least two other officers’ response to the Safeway parking lot has not been made public. According to authorities, Beguelin Flores and Gunderson got into a physical altercation after they arrived. According to authorities, Gunderson tried to draw a gun before Beguelin Flores shot him.
After being transported to a hospital, Gunderson was declared deceased. According to the authorities, one of the officers was hurt.
According to the Washington State Office of Independent Investigations, the Vancouver Police Department recruited Officer Beguelin Flores in 2021. At the time of the shooting, he was assigned to East Patrol.
According to the Vancouver Police Department, it is regular practice for Beguelin Flores and the other two officers who witnessed the shooting to be placed on critical incident leave following the occurrence.
