In a tragic incident on Chicago’s South Side, a man was killed, and a woman is in critical condition following a shooting on Monday morning. The shooting occurred just after 8:45 a.m. in the 7400-block of South Kimbark Avenue in the Grand Crossing neighborhood.
According to Chicago police, the victims, a 30-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, were sitting in a stationary vehicle when a white sedan approached.
Three suspects emerged from the vehicle and began firing at the victims. The man, identified later by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as Emil L. Riley Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman, whose name has not been released, was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition.
