After eluding a prison work crew in southern Oregon on Monday, a man in custody at Warner Creek Correctional Facility vanished and was subsequently apprehended in California.
Donald Jones, 39, abandoned a team at Pacific Pine Wood Mill in Lakeview at roughly 7:30 a.m., according to Oregon prison officials. According to Oregon officials, he was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol in Humboldt County at 4:53 p.m.
Jones was found guilty of using a vehicle without permission and attempting to elude or flee a Coos County police officer. He has been incarcerated since June 4. July 22 was his earliest release date.
