A guy was taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies on Friday morning after he allegedly stabbed an 86-year-old man in the parking lot of a grocery store in unincorporated Clackamas County.
According to a statement from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Jesus Ascencio-Molina, 31, of Portland, is accused of stabbing outside a grocery store close to the 8900 block of Southeast 82nd Avenue, resulting in charges of first-degree assault, second-degree attempted murder, and first-degree robbery.
According to officials, the individual who stabbed the 86-year-old had already left the area when deputies arrived at the site at 2:15 p.m. and administered first aid to him.
According to police, the injured man told the deputies that the suspect attempted to carjack him and assaulted him while he was attempting to load goods into his vehicle. The injured man told deputies that he fled on foot after failing to take the car.
According to officials, deputies located and apprehended Ascencio-Molina about 4:30 p.m. after receiving a description of the suspect from witnesses who observed him leave the parking lot.
