Man arrested after he approached 16-year-old girl, asked her to go back to his apartment

After reportedly approaching a 16-year-old girl on her way to school on Thursday morning, a Tigard man was taken into custody.

According to a statement from the Tigard Police Department, Cristian Serrano-Martinez, 32, is suspected of approaching the adolescent on the Fano Creek Trail in Tigard at approximately nine in the morning.

According to reports, Serrano-Martinez told the teenager that he had marijuana and asked if she would like to return to his apartment so that they could smoke and drink. He inquired whether she wanted to leave the trail and walk into the woods after the adolescent responded no, according to the police.

The teen, who later told authorities she was walking to school because she had missed the bus, declined once more, but Serrano-Martinez accompanied her on her walk until they arrived at the Tigard Public Library, where, according to police, Serrano-Martinez asked if she wanted to meet after school.

According to officials, the adolescent went inside the library and told the staff about the man, who then contacted the police. The teenager said that the man didn’t speak English and that they had to use Google Translate to converse.

After searching the area, officers located Serrano-Martinez and took him into custody. He might be charged with distributing a prohibited substance to a minor, which is a felony.
