On February 4, 2025, Louis Love Keeler, Jr., MD, of Cherry Hill, NJ, passed away. 92 years old. Margaret Mary’s beloved husband (née McDermott). The brother of William, Mary-Lou Vogt-Kaye, Bernardine Abbott, Anne McBride, and Marcelline Sullivan—all of whom have pleasant memories—is the son of Louis Love and Marcelline Keeler. devoted father of Timothy Keeler (Caty), Michael Keeler (Elizabeth), Margie Laitner (Dan), Stephen Keeler (Angela), and Louis Love Keeler III (Monica). Devoted grandfather to Jason, Jack (fiance Maddy); James, Lilee, William, Henry, and Grace; Nicole, Bridget (Matt); Dante (Katie); Krista, Shannon (Luke); Andreas (Sara); Stefan (Allison); Colin (Cara); Brendan (Bailey); and Gianluca (Erin). To the great-grandfather of Mac, Luciana, Addison, Elena, and Isabel. In-laws Francis X, MD, Mimi Keeley, and Kathleen Strott, as well as a large number of nieces and nephews, all survive him.Lou lived a life filled with leadership, service, dedication, and love. He was most committed to his 65-year-old marriage, as well as to his family, friends, patients, and the medical profession. Lou was a devoted Catholic who showed his faith by his deeds and readiness to interact with people in order to grow and learn, showing the same generosity to kings and paupers. Born in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, he attended St. Philomena’s Parish, West Philadelphia Catholic High School, and St. Joseph’s College (now University) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he graduated in 1954. In 1958, he graduated with a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Lou obtained an honorable discharge after serving in the US Air Force for four years as a captain and two years as a lieutenant. He started a prosperous career as a urologic surgeon in Camden County in 1967 after completing his urology residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he later became an Associate Professor of Urology. He held leadership roles as the 203rd President of the Medical Society of New Jersey (the oldest in the country), President of the Medical Staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, President of the Camden County Medical Society, President of the Mid-Atlantic Section of the American Urologic Association, and President of the West Jersey Medical Society. For his service to the Church in the Diocese of Camden, His Excellency James T. McHugh, the 5th Bishop of Camden, knighted him a Knight of St. Gregory. In 2022, current Bishop His Excellency Dennis Sullivan presented him with the St Luke Award. When Lou retired, he and his wife Morrie took trips around the world, learned how to play golf and trade derivatives, wrote two books, watched grandkids and great-grandchildren grow up, and joyously shared their thoughts on business, politics, religion, and, of course, medicine. He enjoyed riding the waves on the seven-mile beach, fishing in the bay, and tending to his garden.The Catholic Church of St. Mary, located at 2001 Springdale Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003, is open for viewing on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Christian Burial Mass Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
