In the early hours of Sunday morning, a disturbing incident unfolded at Lou Malnati’s in Chicago’s South Loop, resulting in an injury to one of the restaurant’s employees during an armed robbery, as confirmed by the Chicago Police Department.
The robbery took place shortly before 2 a.m. at the Lou Malnati’s situated near the intersection of South State Street and East 8th Street. According to police reports, the perpetrators entered the premises armed with both a knife and a gun, confronting the two employees who were on duty at the time.
During the course of the robbery, one of the employees suffered injuries after falling and hitting their head. The severity of the injuries prompted immediate action, and the injured worker was swiftly transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
As of now, law enforcement has not apprehended any suspects involved in the incident. The robbers, described as a male and a female, managed to abscond with the contents of a safe from the restaurant before fleeing the scene.
The Chicago Police Department has initiated an investigation into the robbery, urging anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspects to come forward and assist in the ongoing effort to apprehend those responsible.
