As members of the LGBTQ+ community, we have fought long and hard for our rights, visibility, and a seat at the table. We’ve made progress, but we know that there’s still work to be done. Now more than ever, it’s time for us to step up and take charge of our future—by running for office.
Ohio, like many states, faces challenges that require diverse leadership. Issues like healthcare, education, housing, and civil rights affect all of us, but they particularly impact marginalized communities, including LGBTQ+ individuals. Unfortunately, too often, our voices are left out of the political conversation. That needs to change. If we want to create a future where our rights are protected, where equality is the norm, and where our communities thrive, it’s essential that we take on leadership roles ourselves.

Let me tell you, that is exactly why we need you in office. We need individuals who know what it’s like to fight for their rights, to face discrimination, and to be resilient in the face of adversity. You have qualities that make you an incredible leader, and there’s no one better suited to advocate for our community than you.
It’s time to overcome that fear, to embrace the power we already hold, and to make a real difference. If you’re unsure of where to start, begin by getting involved in your local community. The more experience you gain, the more confidence you’ll have in your ability to lead.
