Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., secured a decisive victory in the GOP primary for Colorado’s 4th District on Tuesday, according to NBC News projections. Boebert chose to run in this district following Rep. Ken Buck’s resignation announcement earlier this year.
Boebert, in her second term, narrowly won re-election in the 3rd District in 2022. Facing a potential rematch with Democrat Adam Frisch, she opted for the 4th District, a safer Republican stronghold where former President Donald Trump had a 19-point lead in 2020.
Boebert, known for her conservative stance and Trump endorsement, initially gained prominence by defeating then-Rep. Scott Tipton in a surprising 2020 primary upset. She has since built a reputation as a vocal opponent of high-profile liberals, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.

In December, Boebert cited her commitment to combating socialism and communism as reasons for her district switch, aiming to prevent progressive groups from influencing the 3rd District. She also mentioned personal challenges, including her recent divorce and a temporary restraining order against her ex-husband, as factors in her decision to seek a “fresh start.”
Boebert’s move has also impacted the GOP primary dynamics in the 3rd District, where Frisch, a former Aspen City Council member, secured the Democratic nomination. With Boebert now heavily favored to win in the 4th District, her political journey continues to draw national attention.
