Landslide closes access to 2 state parks on Oregon coast

On Friday, state officials announced that two state parks along the Oregon coast are closed to vehicles due to a landslide that destroyed a portion of a coastal road.

The state Parks and Recreation Department said in a statement that access to Cape Arago and Shore Acres state parks was blocked off after a landslide destroyed a portion of the Cape Arago Highway south of Sunset Bay State Park. The road’s restoration time is unknown, according to officials.

According to the government, the Sunset Bay State Park campground has been closed due to flooding produced by the same storm. According to officials, the day-use part of Sunset Bay State Park is still open but may close if the flooding persists.
