Judge won’t order Lake Oswego schools to rehire track coach who objected to transgender athletes competing in girls meets

On Monday, a federal judge declined to mandate that the Lake Oswego School District hire John Parks, the former track coach for the Lake Oswego girls.

However, U.S. District Judge Michael H. Simon also determined that Parks is likely to win his case at trial, arguing that the district’s investigation of him was motivated in part by an email he sent to the Oregon School Activities Association on May 15 objecting to transgender athletes competing in girls’ track meets, thereby violating his protected free speech.
