For 2023, the data reveals that Danville and Rockford are notably high on the list. Danville, Illinois, is ranked 16th with a violent crime rate of 1 in 63 residents. Rockford follows closely, securing the 21st spot with a rate of 1 in 66 residents. These rankings reflect the number of violent crimes per 1,000 residents reported in each city.
The list, compiled from the most recent national data available for 2021 and released in October 2022, provides a sobering view of crime statistics. Bessemer, Alabama, tops the list as the most dangerous city with 33.18 violent crimes per 1,000 residents, indicating a 1 in 30 chance of being a victim of a violent crime.
