Ice skating returns to downtown Portland. That’s just one of the rinks open this winter

You can experience the holiday skating enchantment at a number of locations, including the outdoor ice skating rink in downtown Portland, which opens on Saturday.

Prosper Portland, an economic development organization, and the Portland Events & Film Office are hosting the second year of the temporary Portland Winter Ice Rink, which will open beneath the west end of the Morrison Bridge. Through January 5, the 50-by-100-foot rink, which can hold 120 skaters at once, is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thanksgiving and Christmas Day are closed.

Indeed, it is actual ice that Ice-America has maintained frozen using an aluminum floor system.

Tickets cost $10 for kids aged 3 to 12 and $20 for adults, which includes skate rentals. For an extra $10, children can rent ABobby the Sealskating Aid. There will be food and non-alcoholic drinks available for purchase on the premises.

Tickets are available in advance at wintericerinkpdx.com and cover an hour-and-a-half of skating.
