Husband of missing woman from Brightwood arrested on murder allegation

UPDATE: Sheriff’s officials report that Susan Lane-Fournier was discovered deceased close to Welches.

The spouse of a lady who has been missing since November 22 was taken into custody by police on Friday on suspicion of second-degree murder, weeks after she filed for divorce.

According to a statement from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies discovered a corpse in Clackamas County close to Welches on the day that Susan Lane-Fournier’s husband, 71-year-old Michel Fournier, was taken into custody.

Although authorities have not yet disclosed the deceased’s identity or verified if the instances are related, a guy posing as Lane-Fournier’s nephew posted on social media that the 61-year-old woman had been discovered dead.

Fournier’s arrest follows days of searching by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office in the vicinity of where Lane-Fournier’s truck was discovered, according to officials.

According to court documents the Oregonian/OregonLive was able to get, Susan Lane-Fournier filed for divorce from her 12-year spouse on November 7, almost two weeks prior to her disappearance along with her two dogs. The divorce case was still pending when she vanished, despite court documents stating that irreconcilable differences were the cause of the split.

John Wildhaber, a spokesman for the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, stated that the sheriff’s office would be providing information later today but declined to confirm if Lane-Fournier had been located.
