How will No. 1 Oregon football’s defense limit the impact of Penn State tight end Tyler Warren in Big Ten Championship game?

Eugene Tyler Warren of Penn State is one of the most versatile tight ends in college football.

The 6-foot-6, 261-pound Warren actually has a greater impact on the game than most other athletes in the nation, regardless of position. With 21 carries for 189 yards and four scores, 81 receptions for 978 yards and six touchdowns, a punt, a passing touchdown, and even a ball snap, he completes the box score.

According to Penn State coach James Franklin, he is having a terrific season and possesses special ball skills and body control for a large person. Naturally, he is the target of a large portion of our offensive, but we also understand that everyone on the defensive team claims that limiting his impact is one of their main objectives.

We play tight ends in a variety of ways, including line him as a traditional tight end, as a tight end in the hit position, in the backfield as a fullback, in the slot as a slot receiver, out wide as a No. 1 wide receiver, and with motions and shifts. This hasn’t happened very often yet because it’s difficult.

In Saturday’s Big Ten Championship game, Warren will put Oregon’s defense, which is ranked first, to the test on all three levels.

Between the tackles, the defensive line will confront him as a runner and blocker. The secondary will be put to the test whether he gets to the edges or over the middle, and the linebacking corps will be frequently called upon in pass coverage.

According to Oregon coach Dan Lanning, he is undoubtedly a top talent who is a matchup problem and a complete tight end. I can’t wait to get involved, get into that plan, and see how we can neutralize him.

Colston Loveland of Michigan this season and Brock Bowers and Darnell Washington, two former Georgia standouts, are among the top tight ends Oregon has faced in the past. Warren adds a running element and tests defenses in similar ways. This season, he has more rushing yards than any of the 100 FBS players with at least 700 receiving yards.

According to linebacker Jeff Bassa, “I’d have to compare him up there with Brock for what he does for their offense.” Similar to Georgia in the movie 22, Brock was a man who caught tunnel screens. Brock was a key component of their offense, but they didn’t do much Wildcat with him. In addition to being able to run the entire route tree, he is also dangerous when he receives the snap and blocks well in the C area (outside offensive tackles).

Many teams have had trouble taking on Warren in the open field. The Ducks need to get him down on first contact because of his distinct size advantage.

He is undoubtedly their best player, so we must keep an eye out for him, safety Kobe Savage stated. Form tackling will be beneficial to us. Practice sideline tackles, whether on a dummy or something similar. He’s going low because he’s a bigger person.
