How Oregonians can support Season of Sharing, our holiday campaign: Beat Check podcast

For many years, The Oregonian has supported an annual fundraising campaign that highlights neighborhood groups that are improving our community. Strengthening and empowering the communities we serve is a goal of The Oregonian/OregonLive.

Thirteen NGOs are highlighted this year. After the board selects a nonprofit, reporters and photographers look for a case study of the agency’s assistance to people. Every item has a box that illustrates the impact that even modest donations can have.

Every fall, Grant Butler, a veteran reporter and editor in our newsroom, takes on the task of overseeing the initiative. He discussed the significance of our campaign with Editor Therese Bottomly, who is in charge of the board that oversees Oregonian Publishing Co. Public Benefits Inc.
