In order to greatly enhance a crucial natural preserve, Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee and County Commissioner Adrian Garcia announced an agreement to add 1,137 acres to the Armand Bayou Nature Center (8500 Bay Area Blvd., Pasadena, 77507). In addition to protecting vital green space that serves as a natural carbon sink for the area, this strategic acquisition will improve the county’s capacity to mitigate floods.
The expansion shows Harris government’s shared dedication to environmental stewardship and flood resilience and is the result of a cooperative effort by several government offices, corporate sector partners, and environmental groups.
This purchase is an excellent illustration of what effective, cooperative government looks like.
