Days after last week’s shooting in Gresham, which was purportedly caused by a fight over loud music, a woman passed away in a hospital.
Susan Henson was shot and gravely injured when Gresham police arrived at the scene of a shooting in the 1300 block of Southwest Pleasant View Drive shortly before three in the morning on December 10, according to the police.
Police said Monday that she passed away from her wounds after being treated at a nearby hospital. The date of her death was not disclosed by the authorities.
Kuian Kellum, 26, was taken into custody by police at the scene, first on charges of first-degree assault and attempted murder. Since Tuesday, he has been housed in the downtown jail of Multnomah County. According to the police, more charges are anticipated against him.
Henson’s boyfriend told police she heard loud music coming from the parking lot and went out of her apartment to investigate, according to a probable cause affidavit. She noticed Kellum and his girlfriend outside her apartment when she got out.
According to police, she and Kellum got into a fight over the intensity of the music, and Kellum’s girlfriend claimed she attempted to intervene. According to the complaint, Henson allegedly slapped takeaway food out of their hands, which led to a fight.
According to the police report, Henson’s boyfriend pepper sprayed Kellum after coming out to assist. Then, from a short distance, Kellum is accused of firing his gun three times at Henson and her partner.
According to Kellum, he pulled his Smith & Wesson from a fanny pack and fired three shots. He claimed to be terrified that Henson and her boyfriend would beat him up.
