The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office detained a Gresham man in relation to the Friday shooting death of a teenager in the parking lot of the Clackamas Town Center.
According to the sheriff’s office, Pedro Anthony Cornejo-Morales, 18, was taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree assault, second-degree assault, unauthorized use of a weapon, and second-degree attempted murder on Saturday. He may have shot the hand of a 15-year-old child. To receive treatment, the youngster was brought to the hospital.
The gunman ran away after the shooting, but deputies discovered Cornejo-Morales concealed behind a neighboring building. He was arrested at the Clackamas County Jail on Friday evening.
No further information regarding a potential motive was disclosed by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday.
A relative told The Oregonian/OregonLive on Friday that a teenage kid was in a car attempting to flee when at least one shooter started fire. The teenager was picked up and sent to a hospital after he managed to leap out of the vehicle and run across the parking lot.
