A robbery attempt at a South Side Chicago gas station turned deadly when the victim fought back, resulting in the death of one of the attackers.
The incident occurred just after 11 a.m. at the gas station located at 76th and Halsted streets. A 36-year-old man was approached by two robbers who grabbed him by the hair and demanded money.
In a swift response, the victim pulled out a knife and allegedly stabbed one of the robbers, a 38-year-old man, in the neck. The second assailant struck the victim in the face with a gun before both robbers attempted to flee the scene.
Police quickly apprehended the suspects, but the injured robber succumbed to his wounds at the University of Chicago Medical Center. The victim was also hospitalized and is expected to recover from his injuries.
