Galveston Police Bust 3 Smoke Shops for Alleged Illegal Sales, Seize $1.6 Million in Goods

GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas —

Three Galveston smoke shops, including locations on the Seawall and the Strand, were recently raided and their owner was arrested and charged with multiple felonies.

Authorities said an investigation revealed that three Hazy Daze smoke shops were “operating as fronts for the distribution of illegal substances.” It’s unclear what those substances were.

They said they used surveillance video, interviews and undercover operations to uncover what was going on.

Investigators said they seized $1.6 million in the raids.

Hazy Daze owner Shlomi Wolraich, 43, was arrested and charged with engaging in organized crime and money laundering. He’s being held without bond, according to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office. Three others were charged in the case and additional charges could be filed.

Here are the locations of the smoke shops:

  • 2104 Strand Street
  • 4102 Seawall Boulevard
  • 3802 Cove View Boulevard

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office said it led the operation with help from the League City and Dickinson Police Departments.
