Early Monday morning, four people were killed in a shooting at the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Blue Line station in Forest Park, Illinois. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. local time when Forest Park Police received a 911 call reporting three individuals shot on a westbound train. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities found four victims; three were pronounced dead on-site, while the fourth was transported to Loyola University Medical Center, where they later died.
Forest Park Police and CTA security used surveillance video to identify the suspect, who was subsequently apprehended by the Chicago Police Department on a CTA Pink Line train. A firearm was recovered from the suspect, whose identity has not been released. Police believe the shooting was an isolated incident and posed no further threat to the community.
The CTA condemned the shooting as a “heinous and egregious act of violence” that should never occur, particularly on public transit. The CTA immediately deployed resources to support the Forest Park Police Department in the investigation, including reviewing security camera footage which played a crucial role in identifying the suspect.
