According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, former NBA player Rodney Hood announced his retirement on Thursday. According to McMenamin, Hood, 32, tried to make a comeback with Memphis Hustle of the G League, but the attempt was cut short by an injury.
In the 2014 NBA draft, Hood was chosen by the Utah Jazz with their first-round choice (No. 23) out of Duke. During his eight NBA seasons, Hood played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors, Portland Trail Blazers, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
After being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2019, Hood played in 86 games for the Blazers from 2019 to 2021. Game 3 of the Blazers vs. Denver Nuggets second-round playoff series in 2019 was the left-hander’s most memorable performance. With 17.8 seconds left in the FOURTH overtime, Hood sank a 3-pointer to put Portland ahead 138-136. The Blazers then won 141-137 to grab a 2-1 series lead.
