The EPA is looking into whether businesses along the Willamette River gasoline storage hub in Portland are adhering to regulations to stop storage tanks from leaking too many poisonous vapors and dangerous air pollutants.
According to the agency, air monitoring data for quantities of five volatile organic compounds must be collected at nine facilities in the Critical Energy Infrastructure hub on the river, including the contentious Zenith Energy. For a year, air monitors will gather samples of benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, xylenes, and hexane at the company’s locations.
