Because of concerns about contamination, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued recall warnings for frozen broccoli and oysters that were delivered in Oregon.
According to a statement from the FDA, a batch of frozen broccoli from Braga Fresh that is frequently marketed as Marketside Broccoli Florets in Walmart shops, including in Oregon, may be tainted with listeria.
The FDA advises anyone in Oregon or other states who has Braga Fresh packaging with a best-by date of December 10, 2024, to discard it. According to the FDA, there are no known tainted batches of broccoli or other Braga Fresh products.
According to the FDA, Braga Fresh voluntarily initiated the recall, and no illnesses have been linked to the frozen broccoli as of yet.
A food-borne microbe called listeria can infect small children, the elderly, and others with compromised immune systems, leading to serious and occasionally deadly diseases. Fever, headaches, nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain are some of the symptoms. Stillbirths and miscarriages can also be caused by listeria.
Additionally, the FDA is alerting eateries and merchants to the possibility of norovirus contamination in oysters from a section of Washington state’s Hammersley Inlet. According to the FDA, Ruco’s Shellfish collected the affected oysters between December 2 and December 17 and distributed them throughout Washington and Oregon.
Packaged under the Ruco’s Shellfish label, the FDA recommends that consumers, restaurants, and retailers discard the oysters and refrain from eating them.
According to the FDA, foods that contain norovirus may appear, taste, and smell normal, but within 12 to 48 hours they may produce symptoms like fever, vomiting, cramping in the abdomen, and diarrhea. In addition to reporting their symptoms to their local health authority, anyone who are having norovirus symptoms should consult a physician.
