In a dramatic turn of events, the FBI conducted search and arrest operations at two locations in Miami-Dade County linked to an ongoing murder-for-hire investigation that began in late 2023. FBI Special Agent in Charge Jeffrey Veltri confirmed these operations, shedding light on the unfolding events.
The first operation targeted 9720 Bel Aire Drive in Miami, resulting in the arrest of an individual without incident. A thorough search of the premises followed, though specific details were not disclosed at this time.
The second location, 142 Isla Dorada Blvd in Coral Gables, took a tragic turn as FBI agents discovered Sergio Pino deceased inside his residence from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The FBI Miami SWAT team, upon arrival, attempted to establish communication with anyone inside the residence. With no response, they proceeded to conduct a systematic search, locating Mr. Pino alone in an upstairs bedroom.
The official cause of Sergio Pino’s death is pending confirmation from the medical examiner’s office.
Agent Veltri expressed gratitude to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida for their collaboration and diligence throughout the ongoing investigation. Due to the sensitive nature of the case, no further details were disclosed.
