Double Quake California Hit by Two Earthquakes in Less Than 24 Hours

Two earthquakes have struck in California in less than 24 hours, according to reports.

Sunday night, a 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck in Southern California. The earthquake, which was measured at a 3.9 or 4.0 magnitude earthquake on the richter scale, reportedly hit close to Malibu, California. Damage from the earthquake was expected to be minimal.

However, less than 24 hours later, another earthquake struck in Northern California.

A 3.9 magnitude earthquake reportedly struck near San Francisco, California.

From the report:

A minor, 3.9-magnitude earthquake struck in the San Francisco Bay Area on Monday, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The temblor happened at 7:46 p.m. Pacific time about 3 miles northwest of Dublin, Calif., data from the agency shows.

U.S.G.S. data earlier reported that the magnitude was 4.

As seismologists review available data, they may revise the earthquake’s reported magnitude. Additional information collected about the earthquake may also prompt U.S.G.S. scientists to update the shake-severity map.

The earthquake was big enough that people could feel it.

“Crazy that I’ve lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for eight years and this is the first earthquake I’ve ever actually felt,” one person wrote.

“No, you’re not just tipsy on St. Patrick’s Day. There *was* an actual,” one person added.

“A wind storm AND an earthquake? Are you kidding me, Bay Area?” one person added.

“That earthquake was crazy,” another person added.

Stay safe, California.
