Greetings, Abby I know what quality care looks like because I am 70 years old and have dedicated my nursing career to enhancing care for senior citizens. I’ve given it and seen it. When a patient’s top priorities guide the entire course of treatment, that is good care. It’s age-appropriate care that takes into account our objectives and preferences, our mood and memory, our mobility, and the drugs we use.Regretfully, we don’t receive quality care as frequently as we ought to. Just 11% of older individuals rate the U.S. health care system as excellent, according to a survey my group conducted with Age Wave. We cherish life in our years, not simply years in our lives, according to the survey. It draws attention to a discrepancy between the care that senior citizens desire and what they actually receive. For women, persons of color, and those who reside in rural areas, the disparities are particularly noticeable.The website www.johnahartford.org/crossroads provides readers with information about the care we desire, deserve, and can attain.
