Dan Lanning among finalists for Dodd Trophy

Dan Lanning is a Dodd Trophy finalist.

The coach of the year award has five nominees, including Oregon’s third-year coach. The other contenders are Jeff Monken of the Army, Marcus Freeman of Notre Dame, Shane Beamer of South Carolina, and Kenny Dillingham of Arizona State. All five are also considered for the Eddie Robinson Award.

“Given that four of the five selections have been head coaches for less than five years, this year’s finalists truly represent the next generation of coaching greats for our sport,” stated Jim Terry, chairman of the Bobby Dodd coach of the year foundation. Coach Dodd would have been impressed by these coaches’ ability to build on-field and off-field success within their programs, especially at such an early stage of their head coaching careers.

A panel of past winners, members of the College Football Hall of Fame, the national media, and a Dodd family member chose the finalists. Prior to the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, the 2024 Dodd Trophy winner will be revealed.
