Cool, dry Portland metro weather for Thanksgiving travel, but with early fog

Although early fog may hinder driving in the early part of Thanksgiving, forecasters anticipate cold, generally dry conditions in the Portland region that will last into the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday’s high in Portland is expected to reach 45 degrees, while most of the Willamette Valley will see temperatures in the mid-40s.

According to the weather service, overnight fog in the lowlands of the Coast Range and valley should dissipate by 11 a.m. Until then, there’s a chance of heavy fog that makes it impossible to see farther than a quarter mile.

Forecasters advise using low-beam headlights, driving slowly, and giving yourself more room when it’s foggy.

An nighttime low of 33 degrees is predicted on Friday. Highs for the remainder of the week are expected to be in the mid- to high 40s, with Tuesday seeing a potential increase into the low 50s.

For several days, there may be foggy mornings, cold evenings with the possibility of overnight frost, and slick roads.
