Maribel Martinez Garcia, a Mexican national previously convicted of murder in the U.S., has been arrested again in Houston after being deported multiple times.
Garcia, 40, was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in north Houston on Thursday. Authorities discovered she was in possession of a counterfeit Social Security card and a fake lawful permanent resident card.
Garcia first entered the U.S. illegally in 2000, at the age of 16. She was deported but attempted to re-enter the country multiple times, with her last successful entry occurring before her 2007 arrest on charges of capital murder.
In 2008, Garcia was convicted of a lesser charge of murder and sentenced to 20 years in prison. After serving a few years, she was deported again but managed to return to the U.S. at an unknown time.
ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in Houston, with assistance from ERO New Orleans, tracked Garcia down and arrested her. For more details, visit Fox32.
