While much of the Portland area is under a National Weather Service air stagnation advisory through Monday, Saturday is off to a dry and gloomy start.
The National Weather Service predicts that Saturday will be largely cloudy with a high of about 44 degrees. The temperature will be similar on Sunday, creeping up to roughly 46.
Air pollutants can accumulate near the ground due to light winds and restricted air circulation, which can be problematic for those who have respiratory conditions. The eastern Portland metro area, the West Hills, and Chehalem Mountain are all under an air stagnation warning that will last until 4 p.m. Monday.
State air quality regulators advise residents to minimize indoor wood burning and avoid outdoor burning.
