Chilly Saturday will be followed by extreme cold temperatures into Sunday morning in Portland, western Oregon

It will be cold and sunny Saturday in Portland and parts of western Oregon, and then it will be cold again tonight.

A cold weather advisory was issued by the Portland National Weather Service until 10 a.m. on Saturday and again from 10 p.m. on Saturday until 10 a.m. on Sunday.

The Portland metro region could see evening lows of 25 degrees, according to NWS, while other areas under the advisory might see lows of 15 degrees.

After a cold morning, Saturday’s high temperature is predicted to reach 46 degrees during the day. The high temperature on Sunday is predicted to reach 47 degrees. In the Portland area, actual low temperatures are predicted to be about 30 degrees on both days.

Through Wednesday, similar conditions are anticipated to continue. Temperatures above freezing and the possibility of rain are expected on Thursday.

On Friday evening, a cold weather shelter was opened in Washington County. A county news release states that until further notice, the Beaverton Community Center, which is situated at 12350 SW 5th St., will continue to be open 24 hours a day.

During the cold weather advisory, the NWS warns of the possibility of hypothermia and frostbite.
