As a heatwave grips Central Illinois, schools are taking precautions to protect students. Danville Community Consolidated School District 118 announced an e-learning day on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, due to the extreme temperatures.
In a message sent to families, district officials emphasized the decision was made for the safety and well-being of students and staff.
Arthur High School has also modified its schedule, implementing early dismissals from Monday to Thursday. The district assured families that bus service will be available for students needing transportation home.
Updates regarding extracurricular activities, including potential schedule adjustments for games and practices, will be communicated through the district’s Facebook page.
Additionally, Central A&M has canceled several athletic events, including volleyball meets and cross-country practices.
