Catch New Fruit! Big Lots Reopens in Pennsylvania with Huge Discounts and New Shopping Opportunities

Big Lots, the discount retailer that filed for bankruptcy in September 2024 and closed all of its stores across the nation, is making a strong return. The company, which once operated nearly 1,400 locations, is set to reopen around 200 stores across 13 states, including several in Pennsylvania, under new ownership.

Variety Wholesalers Inc., the company behind popular discount chains like Roses, Maxway, and Super Dollar, has acquired Big Lots and is leading its revival. This revitalization aims to bring fresh products, unbeatable closeouts, and rock-bottom prices to Pennsylvania shoppers.

Big Lots Facebook post announced the exciting news.

“New ownership, fresh products & unbeatable closeouts at prices so low, you’ll want to shout! We think…wait we KNOW you are going to be very happy with the new Big Lots! and what we have in store for the return. Lots of great deals. Lots of bargain hunting. Lots of closeouts. Lots of fun items. We’ll have brands but you’ll still save BIG.”

The first wave of reopenings is scheduled for April 10. By June, the retailer expects all 200 stores to be back in business, signaling a major turnaround after months of closures that had seen Big Lots vanish from the retail scene.
