Canadian politician (jokingly) invites Oregon to join as a new province

A well-known Canadian party leader has extended an invitation to California, Washington, and Oregon: Do you want to connect?

According to Newsweek, Elizabeth May, the leader of Canada’s Green Party, may have made the comments in jest during a press conference last week in Ottawa.

California might be interested in becoming the eleventh province. What say you? California? Oregon? Washington?”I said,” she said.

May’s invitation is merely the most recent jab in the verbal sparring between Canadian authorities and President-elect Donald Trump, who last month proposed making our northern neighbor the 51st state.

Trump’s approach to international diplomacy has garnered a lot of attention lately. The president-elect has also suggested that the United States should reclaim the Panama Canal and purchase Greenland. The small governor has been known to call Justin Trudeau, the soon-to-be former prime minister of Canada, by his name.

May has a sales pitch for the liberal states along the Pacific coast. She represents the fifth largest party in Canada’s parliament. In particular, health care and firearms regulations.

You receive this: free medical treatment. “Universal health care is free,” she stated. Because of the national gun lobby, your Congress is too scared to enact those gun laws. Our stringent firearms regulations already exist.

Oregon has other suitors besides May. The “Greater Idaho Movement” also aims to claim a large portion of Oregon. Although politicians in both states and at the federal level have not pushed the plan, many of Oregon’s sparsely populated eastern counties have signed on.
